Navadharani is an arachnologist and wildlife researcher with a master’s degree in wildlife biology. She is fascinated by arachnids and primarily focuses on understudied groups, including Amblypygi (whip spiders), Uropygi (whip scorpions), and Mygalomorphs (tarantulas), among the most neglected arachnid groups in India.
As a researcher, her current work focuses on the Integrative Systematic revision of Indian Amblypygi, Uropygi, and Mygalomorphs using molecular approaches. This research aims to elucidate their species diversity, distribution patterns, evolutionary ecology, ecological significance and conservation biology. Despite their abundance and vital ecological roles, arachnids are often dismissed as backyard creatures rather than recognized as an important part of wildlife. Her ultimate goal is to change perceptions of Arachnids and promote greater recognition of their ecological importance and the need for their conservation.
